Wesley Wofford, FNSS
NSS Fellow Wesley Wofford’s Harriet Tubman memorial, Journey To Freedom is part of the 2026 Freedom Walk. This summer, as part of America’s 250th Anniversary, historian Anthony Cohen made the 750 mile trek that is part of the Underground Railroad, a secret network of routes traversed by thousands of enslaved people who had escaped captivity and sought freedom in Canada. Beginning his journey in Maryland in May, Cohen reached the Canadian border on July 1. Wofford and his 9-foot traveling sculpture of Harriet Tubman met Cohen at the Rainbow Bridge in Niagara Falls and crossed with him into Canadian to wrap up the momentous trip.
