Sacred Spirit — Prospectus

The exhibition is open all sculptors. Realistic work inspired by nature is preferred.

The theme of this show is sculpture that portrays the deeper soulful inner self of all beings. The exhibition will include a wide range of expression celebrating man and nature’s unique ability to communicate. Spiritual or Religious, Deities or Muses; sculpture that deals with a belief system or tries to make sense of the metaphysical world.

All entries are subject to jury. All work will be juried anonymously from images submitted.

ARTISTS MUST SUBMIT A BRIEF STATEMENT ABOUT THE WORK AND ITS CONNECTION TO THE THEME AT THE TIME OF SUBMISSION (maximum 530 characters). We will request a longer statement should the work be accepted into the show.

Entry Fee:
Free for NSS Members in good standing.
$50 for non-NSS members.

Works in the round must not exceed 100 pounds and the crate must not exceed the dimensions of 90 inches x 35 inches (size of the gallery doorway). Wall works must not exceed 20 pounds.

CALENDAR
March 8, 2024: Submissions open.
April 12, 2024: Submissions deadline
April 26, 2024: Notification emailed to artists.
May 20-24 & May 28-31, 2024: Delivery of work to NSS Gallery.
June 10, 2024: Sacred Spirit opens.
August 16, 2024: Sacred Spirit closes.

Sculptures may be in any permanent medium. Terracotta, plaster, ceramic and works in other fragile materials will be considered, but only on the condition that artists assume all responsibility for proper packaging and shipping of works. Work must be at the very least fired; no unfired clay pieces will be accepted. The NSS will NOT be held responsible for any damages. Works of all sizes will be considered, including reliefs and medals.

All accepted sculptors will be asked to sign a brief contract stating that they agree to loan their accepted work of sculpture for the duration of the exhibition at the NSS Gallery. Contracts will also establish price for all works intended for sale.

Insurance for individual works in transit is strongly encouraged and is the responsibility of the sculptor.

Sculptors are responsible for all shipping costs of their work to and from the exhibition.
